Debunking December 2016’s Alchemist Café

Evidence in the age of truthiness: are we all Nietzsche’s children?

In its second year, this event is part of Alchemist Café Dublin‘s annual “Debunking December”

The German philosopher Friederich Nietzsche provocatively said that “Truths are illusions of which we have forgotten that they are illusions.” The assault that followed on the intellectual inheritance of the West aimed to create a liberation movement from all kinds of repression, but most of all, our and the earth’s subjugation to technology and Enlightenment Reason. Where has this left us as we enter the age of Trump? What status do facts and science have when mass society votes for the will to power?
